Welcome back to the ‘Work to Play” series, where I show you how to take your office look to your outing look in a few steps. It’s been a few months since my last post on the topic – you can see the last one here. As a fashion blogger, I get invited to fun trendy events throughout the week – and I rarely have the time to go home and change. Today’s look is the perfect example. Last week I got out of work at five, and had to be downtown at Gossip & Glamour‘s Seattle Goodwill x MOHAI event held at Hotel Sorrento by 6.
The event focused on the history of Seattle fashion (yes, there’s actually a history beyond flannel!) and cleaning out your closet for Earth Month. There’s nothing better than doing some spring cleaning. Every season I take a few hours to look through my closet and separate items into a donate and sell pile. I stop by stores like Buffalo Exchange first, and then head over to Goodwill to donate everything else. It’s so refreshing to get rid of things!
For this look, I swapped out 2 items to make it go from work appropriate to event perfect.
- The bag. I switched my work tote out for a thrifted crossbody bag.
- The pants. I switched out a pair of tailored black pants for some ripped ones.
It’s crazy how a few little items can totally change up a look. For this look, everything centered around the blouse. It’s professional meets trendy with the collar and the embroidery. Wearing all black would have worked with this, but I’ve been so excited about it being spring that I wanted to pull the red from the flowers into the blazer. I think that the blouse is also the perfect winter to spring transition.
